  • 2015: Chosen by Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly as an "Attorney of the Year" for successfully representing a client seeking to have the Rhode Island commercial broker's lien statute declared unconstitutional

  • June 19, 2007: Faculty member of National Business Institute one-day seminar "Preserving Your Right to Appeal: Essential Trial Motions." Discussed issues and prepared written materials for the seminar

  • May 2007: Appointed a member of the Supreme Court Electronic Case Filing Steering Committee

  • 2004 to 2007: Legal counsel to the North Kingstown School Committee

  • 2003 to 2009: President of the Washington County Bar Association

  • 2001 to 2006: Member of the Supreme Court Character and Fitness Committee

  • 2003 and 2004: Taught several classes for Rhode Island Bar Association on CASEMAKER system, including a class at the Rhode Island Bar Association annual meeting

  • January and February 2003: Acted as "test subject" for Rhode Island Bar Association for the new CASEMAKER legal research program

  • September 2002: Co-recipient of "Case of the Year" award from the Rhode Island Trial Lawyers Association ("RITLA") for an amicus curiae brief submitted on behalf of RITLA in Skaling v. Aetna Ins. Co., 799 A.2d 997 (R.I. 2002)

  • 2001: Served as a judge for the Rhode Island Bar Journal writing award

  • June 2001: Received the first place writing award from the Rhode Island Bar Association for a published article entitled "Constitutional Prospects for Same-Sex Marriage in Rhode Island"

  • May 2001: Speaker during Family Law Millennium Seminar at Radisson Hotel, Warwick, Rhode Island. Discussed custody and visitation issues concerning same-sex couples and prepared written materials for his portion of the seminar

  • June 2000: Moderator and speaker at Rhode Island Bar Association annual meeting seminar entitled "Dealing with Interest on Judgments." Also prepared written materials for his portion of the seminar

  • December 1994: Received public commendation from the Westerly Town Council for successfully representing the town before the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island - case is reported as Wreck Bar, Inc. v. Comolli, 857 F. Supp. 182 (D.R.I. 1994)

  • May 1994: Published article in Rhode Island Bar Journal "Substantial Evidence v. Some or Any Evidence: Supreme Court Review of Administrative Appeals in Strafach v. Durfee"
